FAQ
Grant questions, answered
What grants can a Gold Coast small business apply for?
It changes month to month. Queensland runs recurring small business programs (such as Business Basics and Business Boost) in funding rounds that open and close quickly, the City of Gold Coast operates local schemes such as export assistance, and industry-specific programs come and go. As at August 2026 several headline QLD programs are between rounds — which is exactly when preparation wins, because rounds are often oversubscribed within days of opening.
How do I actually win a grant round?
Be ready before it opens. Winning applications have current financials, a clear project with quotes, measurable outcomes and eligibility evidence lined up in advance — then submit early in the round. We prepare the pack ahead of time so opening day is an upload, not a scramble.
Are grants taxable, and do they affect my R&D claim?
Most business grants are assessable income, and grant-funded expenditure generally cannot be double-dipped with the R&D tax incentive — clawback rules adjust the benefit. Both effects are calculable before you accept the money, which is where an accountant beats a pure grant writer.
Do you charge a percentage of the grant?
No. Fixed fees for readiness work and applications, quoted up front. We will also tell you plainly when a program is closed, paused or oversubscribed rather than selling hope — several well-known federal programs currently have no open round, and pretending otherwise wastes your money.
