What do I need to start a business in Queensland?
At minimum: a structure decision (sole trader, company, trust or partnership), an ABN, and GST registration once turnover will exceed $75,000. Companies also need ASIC registration and a director ID for each director; employers add PAYG withholding and superannuation obligations. We set all of it up in one pass, in the right order.
How long does a company registration take?
The ASIC registration itself is usually same-day once details are settled. The full setup — constitution, registers, ABN, TFN, GST and bank-ready documents — is typically complete within a few business days. Trusts add deed preparation to the timeline.
Company or trust for a new business?
A company gives limited liability and a capped tax rate; a discretionary trust gives flexibility in distributing profit among family members; many businesses use a company owned by or acting as trustee for a trust to get both.
